The ‘Pants on the Ground’ phenomenon

By Jonathan Tully As of Wednesday morning, it will have been exactly one week since the world was introduced by American Idol to Gen. Larry Platt and his song “Pants on the Ground”. Since we first got introduced to the General, here’s some of what’s happened: • Jimmy Fallon imitated Neil Young singing a cover of it. • Gen. Larry Platt is called the General because of his work in the civil rights movement,

and he marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. • A poodle got called out for his choice of attire. • Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre covered it following their win over Dallas in the NFC playoffs. • And now, the General has ended up on ABC’s The View , complete with a great look: (Top that, William Hung.)
