By Sarah Mulé Wow. First of all, this post is filled to the brim with spoilers so if you haven’t yet watched the season 2 finale of “True Blood,” stop what you’re doing and go watch it right now. And then come back here and read this. Moving on … I’ve seen some interesting weddings, but Maryann’s holy nuptials take the cake. With her bridesmaids (Lafayette included - he really rocked that dress, don’t you think?) and Sookie as her unwilling maid-of-honor, Maryann gathered all of the crazy-eyed townsfolk (now including Jason and Andy) to watch her marry The God Who Comes. But first she needs a vessel. Bill and Sam have cooked up a plan to save the town but, annoyingly, Bill doesn’t let Sookie in on this plan until the very last moment. So Sam allows himself to be sacrificed and Sookie makes a mess of things by ruining Maryann’s weird meat-stick-nest-man-statue thing. With Maryann hell bent on scratching Sookie to death with those creepy claws, Bill rescues Sam and lets him drink from him to save his life. Sam, in a fabulous scene, turns himself into a bull (a Braman?) tricking nutso Maryann into thinking that he was the god and she was to be the sacrifice. He gores her with his horns for a minute or two and then pulls out her gross, black, funky looking heart and kills her. Everyone comes out of their trance and life goes back to normal. If only for an hour or two … We find out that Queen Sophie-Anne is the one ordering Eric to sell V and is less than pleased when she learns that Bill knows what Eric is doing. Eric promises her that he will take care of Bill. Evan Rachel Wood is the perfect brand of wacky to play this role and I am looking forward to seeing where this picks up next season.
